Did you know that jellyfish aren’t really fish? Some places have begun trying to revise the name into sea jellies or just jellies.
Most of us are used to seeing jellyfish that are about 8″-12″ in diameter when they wash upon shore. There are jellies out here that are larger than humans and as small as a pinhead.
A group of jellyfish are called a bloom, a swarm, or a smack. Bloom is usually used for the largest group.
Not all jellyfish stings can hurt you. Not all jellies are venomous to humans, though it might be smarter to just steer clear when you see them. The box jellyfish is the deadliest to humans. It is one of the deadliest animals in the world and the venom causes the heart to seize and stop. They do not make good pets.
Jellyfish do not have brains and most don’t have eyes.
